Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash has a few new features that were initially exclusive to older Wii consoles, such as the custom arena that can be created inside Mario Party, and the offline play which already exists in Mario Kart.
At the beginning of the game, if Mario was hit by a tennis ball, when you restart the game, if you're able to get control of Mario without the ball, he will now animate, jump up from being hit, and land safely. But be warned that if Mario isn't the one handling the controllers, he will lose control of them.
Believe it or not, I just noticed this from playing them. I dug out some of my old photos I took at the 1990's UST Classic Homecoming Dance. The game was really playable back then too. My kids are just starting to get into playing it, so we'll see how they do and if I can get them interested in it. This is the 2nd remake of Mario Tennis 64, but I don't think they really improved one iota of what the original had to offer.
I owe a lot to the Dr. Mario series and now that I've played the title, I'm even more inclined to play the series. There's just something about Mario Tennis that's a hoot regardless of how much better this game is! 7211a4ac4a
